§ 3. Sir R. THOMASasked the Home Secretary whether he will consider the desirability at an early date of introducing legislation to check the growth of Sunday trading; and whether his attention has been drawn to a resolution to that effect by the National Chamber of Trade, at Buxton, on Monday, 16th May?
§ Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKSI have seen the resolutions adopted by the National Chamber; but, as I have pointed out in replies to previous questions on the subject, the question is a highly controversial one, and I see little prospect at present of any Government legislation on the subject.
§ Mr. R. MORRISONIn view of the fact that there is little prospect of time being available for legislation, will the right hon. Gentleman consider the advisability of setting up a Committee to go into the question of the ramifications of Sunday trading?
§ Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKSThere is a Committee sitting on a somewhat cognate subject, and I think we might wait for their Report.
