HC Deb 26 May 1927 vol 206 c2169
38. Sir R. THOMAS

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether, in view of the proposals in favour of applying the Safeguarding of Industries Act to agriculture, he will give prior consideration to the establishment of a system of agricultural credit banks?

Sir H. BARNSTON

Articles of food and drink are already specifically excluded from the Safeguarding of Industries procedure and the Government are not proposing to make any alteration in that respect. My right hon. Friend is at present giving active consideration to the provision of credit facilities for agriculture.
