asked the President of the Board of Trade if there is a Government representative on the board of directors of the British Celanese Company; and, if so, who he is, when he was appointed, and the terms of his appointment?

Mr. McNEILL

The Government representative on the board of directors of the British Celanese Company is Sir Philip G. Henriques. He was appointed with the ordinary powers of a director on 28th February, 1920, and cannot be removed without the consent of the Government so long as the Government holds not less than 250,000 preference shares.

Was this gentleman Chairman of the Committee on the Pottery Tax?

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that this same gentleman, the Government nominee on the board of directors of this company, was chairman of the Committee of Inquiry into the application of the Pottery Tax, and does he not think—
