HC Deb 24 May 1927 vol 206 cc1830-1
49. Mr. THURTLE

asked the Prime Minister, if he would be prepared to furnish the necessary Parliamentary opportunity for a discussion on the question of more effective Parliamentary control over moneys voted for secret service purposes?

The PRIME MINISTER

No, Sir; I cannot give special facilities for this discussion.

Mr. THURTLE

Is the Prime Minister aware that there is considerable public concern at the rapid growth of expenditure for this purpose, and can he not give Parliament some opportunity of discussing the whole question?

The PRIME MINISTER

There is never any difficulty in the Opposition asking for any particular Vote to be put down and then the question can be discussed automatically.

Sir NALL

Is it not a fact that the public concern just mentioned is confined to the offices of Arcos?
