HC Deb 24 May 1927 vol 206 c1829
47. Mr. REMER

asked the Prime Minister, if, now that the Southborough Committee has reported, he can state the Government's policy with reference to an alteration of the licensing laws?

Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKS

I have been asked to reply. The Government have not yet had an opportunity to consider the Report of the Southborough Committee, which has only recently been received, and accordingly I am not as yet in a position to make any statement on this subject.

Mr. REMER

If I put a question down after Whitsuntide, will the right hon. Gentleman be able to give me an answer?

Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKS

I shall be much more likely to be able to answer the hon. Member's question then than to-day.

Viscountess ASTOR

Is it not true that the Southborough Committee sat for two years and recommended nothing of any use?
