HC Deb 24 May 1927 vol 206 cc1822-3
31. Sir H. BRITTAIN

asked the Minister of Transport whether any date has been fixed for the promised inquiry in connection with the South Acton explosion; and whether, in that inquiry, every effort will be made not only to discover the cause of this explosion but also to determine the question of responsibility and liability for the consequent loss of life and property?

Colonel ASHLEY

I understand that the Electricity Commissioners expect to be able to announce very soon the arrangements made by them for the inquiry into the explosion to which my hon. Friend refers. The object of the inquiry will be to endeavour to ascertain the cause of the explosion, but any legal dispute as to liability could, of course, only be determined by the Courts.
