HC Deb 23 May 1927 vol 206 cc1632-3
23. Sir R. HAMILTON

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether the oath of allegiance is required by law in those Crown Colonies in which compulsory service exists; and whether the Government approve of its omission, as proposed in the Kenya Defence Force Bill?

Mr. AMERY

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. The question of the omission from the Kenya Defence Force Bill of the requirement to take the oath of allegiance will be considered when the Bill is received.

24. Mr. RENNIE SMITH

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies when he expects to receive a Report on the Compulsory Military Service Bill in Kenya?

Mr. AMERY

Probably, about the middle of June.
