HC Deb 12 May 1927 vol 206 cc564-5
20. Mr. HASLAM

asked the Minister of Health if, in cases of sudden and urgent necessity, when there is no relieving officer near at hand, he will consider empowering each guardian in the union district to grant temporary relief?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

I would refer my hon. Friend to the, reply given to a previous question put by my hon. and gallant Friend the Member for Tiverton (Lieut.-Colonel Acland-Troyte), of which I am sending him a copy.

Mr. HASLAM

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that in a sparsely-populated district cases of great hardship may arise, and will he continue to give the matter consideration?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

If my hon. Friend will consult the answer I have given, he will see that that matter has been taken into consideration.
