§ 18. Mr. EVERARD
asked the Minister of Health whether he has received any notification by the council of the city of Leicester of their intention to open a home for mentally defective children in the parish of Birstall; and whether, seeing that this is a rapidly developing residential district, he will see that the home is situated in some less populated part of the county?
I understand that the Leicester Mental Deficiency Committee are considering taking a house at Birstall for a short term for a small 1743 number of children pending the extension of their main institution, but the proposal has not yet been officially submitted.
§ Mr. R. MORRISON
Will the right hon. Gentleman see that, rather than offend the susceptibilities of the people in this aristocratic neighbourhood, children shall be exterminated rather than give any offence?
§ Mr. EVERARD
Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that this is not an aristocratic neighbourhood, but one where the majority of the residents belong to the working classes?
