HC Deb 04 May 1927 vol 205 c1610
33. Sir JOHN POWER

asked the Minister of Labour if he can state when the Unemployment Insurance Bill is likely to be introduced?

Sir A. STEEL-MAITLAND

I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply given on Monday last to the hon. Member for Leith.

Mr. STEPHEN

Can the right hon. Gentleman tell us whether the Bill will be introduced this Session, or whether it will probably be carried forward to next year?

Sir A. STEEL-MAITLAND

I would refer the hon. Member to the answer I gave to the hon. Member for Leith (Mr. E. Brown).

Mr. STEPHEN

I am aware of the answer given to the hon. Member for Leith. It was very indefinite, and I wonder if the right hon. Gentleman can be a little more definite?

Sir A. STEEL-MATLAND

No, the position has not been able to clarify further since Monday last.
