HC Deb 02 May 1927 vol 205 c1276
52. Mr. THURTLE

asked the Prime Minister if he is prepared to introduce legislation for the purpose of compelling all political parties to publish annually a list of the subscriptions received by them?

The PRIME MINISTER

No, Sir.

Mr. THURTLE

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that 4,000,000 trade unionists are strongly of opinion that this legislation should be introduced?

Mr. SPEAKER

That is in the nature of argument.

Mr. BECKETT

Why does the right hon. Gentleman think fit to discriminate between one party's funds and another's?

Mr. THURTLE

Will the Prime Minister tell us on what grounds he refuses to take this legislative step?

Sir HARRY BRITTAIN

What would it cost to print this list of 4,000,000?

Mr. SPEAKER

We cannot debate the matter.
