HC Deb 28 March 1927 vol 204 cc834-5
3. Mr. PETHICK-LAWRENCE

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India which of the Provincial Governments have taken action following the passing by the Legislative Assembly of the Indian Trade Union Act; and whether, in view of the fact that the Act was passed over 12 months ago, any steps have been taken by the Government of India to bring to the notice of those local governments which have not yet issued the necessary Regulations the desirability of making possible the early enforcement of the above Act?

Earl WINTERTON

The Government of India are in correspondence with local governments with a view to the Act coming into force at an early date. My Noble Friend has caused an inquiry to be sent to the Government of India asking which of the various steps necessary have been taken, and in which provinces.
