HC Deb 22 March 1927 vol 204 c217
78. Mr. H. WILLIAMS

asked the Minister of Labour if he can state the number of persons insured under the National Health Insurance Act who were not insured against unemployment on the ground that they were engaged in exempted industries at the end of 1920 and at the end of 1926, or at any earlier date to which the latest available figures apply?

Mr. BETTERTON

The numbers of persons insured under the Unemployment Insurance Scheme are ascertained with reference to the month of July in each year. In July, 1921, and in July, 1926, they were approximately 11,081,000 and 11,774,000 for Great Britain. As explained to my hon. Friend in reply to a similar question in April last, the number of persons insured under the Health Insurance Scheme is a matter for the Ministry of Health.
