HC Deb 17 March 1927 vol 203 c2179
29. Lieut.-Colonel HOWARD-BURY

asked the Minister of Health whether, in view of the judgment in the Court of Appeal in the case of the Pontypridd Union v. Drew, he will promote legislation whereby the liability of a person receiving relief and who is in a position to repay the same, either at the time of receipt or subsequently, may be defined and the guardians given the necessary power to recover the expenses incurred according to the circumstances of the case?

33. Mr. LOOKER

asked the Minister of Health if he will take steps to empower boards of guardians to recover the expenses of relief to persons in a position to repay the same?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

I will reply to these questions together. I can only say at present that the matter is receiving my consideration.
