§ The SECRETARY of STATE for WAR (Sir Laming Worthington-Evans)According to the latest information which I have, the standing army of Russia numbers nearly 650,000 men, and if the "Territorial" Militia be included, over 1,000,000, while the Reserves number over 8,000,000 in addition. As regards the last part of the question the strength of these forces has shown a slight increase during the past year.

Friend's attention been called to speeches in the last few weeks by members of the Soviet Government, stating that war between Soviet Russia and the capitalist States is inevitable, and asking the masses in Russia to continue their work while the Red Army is being made ready for the inevitable clash?
