HC Deb 14 March 1927 vol 203 cc1634-5
42. Sir HENRY CAUTLEY

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he has any statistics or information showing the number of agricultural workers now unemployed and the number of farms unlet or involuntarily taken over by the owners as compared with the corresponding period of last year; and, if so, where such can be obtained?

Mr. GUINNESS

No statistics are available of the numbers of agricultural workers unemployed, but the information obtained by officers of the Ministry in various parts of the country suggests that there is very little unemployment amongst regular workers, and that such unemployment as exists at this time of the year is mainly confined to casual workers. As regards the second part of the question, I regret that I have no information.
