asked the Minister of labour whether he propose to increase the number of training centres for the unemployed?

The question of the provision of further training facilities is at present under consideration.

33. Mr. SHORT

asked the Minister of Labour what is the number of persons trained at the unemployed training centres during 1926 and the number absorbed in home industries and overseas, respectively?

Sir A. STEEL-MAITLAND

The number of men who received a full course of training at these centres during 1926, or who left before completing the full course in order to take up employment, was 1,771. Of this number about 1,100 had by the end of 1926 obtained employment in this country, and 290 were placed on farms in the oversea Dominions.
