HC Deb 01 March 1927 vol 203 c195
29. Mr. WESTWOOD

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland the number of children in Peeblesshire of school age resident more than three miles from the nearest school; and what provision, if any, the Peeblesshire Education Authority make for the conveyance of children residing without the three miles limit from the nearest school?

Sir J. GILMOUR

The education authority inform me that they have not been able in the time to obtain the information necessary to answer the first part of the question. They state, however, generally that all applications by parents resident more than three miles from the nearest school for assistance to enable their children to attend school have been granted, with the exception of a new application which will come before the authority at their next meeting.
