§ 46. Mr. GILLETTasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, in view of the recent purchase of gold from the Bank of England by the French Government, any representations have been made to that Government pointing out the prejudicial effect on the trade of this country and the increased cost to the Government in the issue of Treasury Bills as the result of this action; and, if so, what answer has been received?
