HC Deb 23 June 1927 vol 207 c2045
42. Mr. WHITELEY

asked the Minister of Health whether his attention has been called to the inquiry held by the medical service sub-committee of the Durham County Insurance Committee into the question of lax certification by the doctors in the eastern part of the county during 1926; and, if so, whether he proposes to take any action in the matter?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

Yes, Sir. I have received a report of this inquiry, but in the absence of any specific recommendation by the insurance committee, I am not in a position to take any action in the matter.

Mr. WHITELEY

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that the local insurance committee passed a resolution asking for a public inquiry into this matter?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

I think I had better wait until I get any resolution such as the hon. Member refers to.
