HC Deb 23 June 1927 vol 207 cc2038-9
28. Mr. PETHICK-LAWRENCE

asked the Minister of Health whether his attention has been called to the judgment of the House of Lords in the case of Harnett v. Fisher; and whether the Government will consider the introduction of legislation to prevent the recurrence of a similar situation?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

My attention has been drarwn to this judgment, but I am not in a position to add anything to the answer which I gave the hon. Member on the 3rd May last year in regard to the issue raised in this case.

Mr. PETHICK-LAWRENCE

Will the right hon. Gentleman take into consideration the wide feeling that exists, both in medical and in legal circles, as to this matter, as evidenced by the articles in the prominent organs of both those professions?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

Nothing can be done in the matter without legislation.
