§ Motion made, and Question proposed, "That the Clause stand part of the Bill."
§ Sir DOUGLAS NEWTONI would like to ask the Solicitor-General a question. Under Clause 9 of the Bill, power is given to statutory bodies for water rights. These are very important rights and powers. Are similar powers to be given for the development of overhead transmission lines or otherwise for the purpose of electrical development in rural areas? If such powers are given, I cannot find any reference to them. I would like to express the hope that the Commissioners in the exercise of their powers will facilitate the development of overhead lines.
§ The CHAIRMANThis Clause deals with water supply. To make the question relevant, there would have to be the supply of water for the development of electricity.
§ Sir D. NEWTONI am sorry if I have not made my point clear. The same powers will be needed in regard to electricity as in regard to water.
§ The CHAIRMANI do not think that we can discuss that on a water Clause.
