HC Deb 14 June 1927 vol 207 cc824-5
15. Colonel DAY

asked the Minister of Transport whether any new experiments of the one-way or roundabout system of traffic have been made in the London area during the months of April and May; whether Reports from the police indicate that these experiments have been successful; and is it intended to carry out any further experiments in the near future.

The MINISTER of TRANSPORT (Colonel Ashley)

No experiments of the one-way or roundabout system of traffic working have been authorised in the London Traffic Area during the months of April and May. It is hoped to carry out further experiments in the near future.

Colonel DAY

Can the right hon. Gentleman say whether any of the roundabout systems have been discontinued through not being worked properly?

Colonel ASHLEY

No authorised roundabout system has been discontinued.

Colonel DAY

Will the right hon. Gentleman say whether they are working satisfactorily in all the areas?

Colonel ASHLEY

Oh, naturally, anything that the Ministry of Transport does works satisfactorily.

Colonel DAY

How many fatal accidents have been reported through the roundabout system?
