§ 34. Mr. LUNNasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if there are any women still in prison who were sentenced uncle the Emergency Powers Regulations during 1926; what time they have to serve from this date; and whether he will take steps to release them all forthwith?
§ Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKSNone. There are two who were sentenced at Assizes in March for offences under the ordinary law; both are due for discharge 673 on 20th June; both their cases have been considered carefully from time to time, but I have found no sufficient reason for recommending interference with the sentences of the Court.
§ Mr. LUNNDo I understand the right hon. Gentleman to say that there are only these two women still in prison as a result of the penalties which were inflicted in connection with last year's stoppage?
§ Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKSYes, Sir.
