§ Mr. McNEILLThe Surplus Stores, etc. (Liquidation Department and the Shipping Liquidation Department ceased to exist as separate Departments on 31st March last, and grants for the higher education of ex-service men practically terminated on the same date. Considerable progress was a made in winding up other schemes, for example, the expenditure on the training and resettlement of ex-service personnel has fallen from £366,649 in, 1926 to £80,143 in 1927. For a statement of the remaining war services not yet liquidated, I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply which was given to my hon. Friend the Member for Wimbledon on 5th May.
