HC Deb 29 July 1927 vol 209 cc1652-3
Lieut.-Colonel THOM (by Private Notice)

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether an application has been made to him under the Glasgow Boundaries Extension Act by the Education Authorities of the Counties of Dumbarton, Lanark, and Renfrew to determine the amount of compensation due to these authorities by the Education Authority of Glasgow in respect of the increased burden of cost falling on them as a result of the Extension of the boundaries of the City of Glasgow, and, if so, when a decision on the application is likely to be reached; and, secondly, what is the cause of the delay in this matter?

The LORD ADVOCATE

The reply to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. My right hon. Friend has been in communication with the Education Authority of Glasgow respecting the applications, and they have the matter still under consideration. He is pressing for an immediate reply, and hopes to be in a position to announce his decision at an early date.

Lieut.-Colonel THOM

Will my right hon. Friend consider proceeding to a determination of this matter without the assistance of the Education Authority of Glasgow in the event of further delay?

The LORD ADVOCATE

That situation does not arise at the present moment.
