HC Deb 28 July 1927 vol 209 c1446
42. Mr. THURTLE

asked the Secretary of State for Air if he is now in a position to make a statement on the results of the test operations which have just taken place in connection with the aerial defence of London?

Sir P. SASSOON

The answer is in the negative.

Mr. THURTLE

Can the hon. Baronet say when he expects to be able to give a statement as to these operations?

Sir P. SASSOON

I am afraid I could not say that now. Of course, a great deal has appeared in the papers.

Mr. THURTLE

Can the hon. Baronet say whether, if this had been actual warfare, the population of London would have suffered immense casualties?

Sir P. SASSOON

I must leave that to the hon. Member's imagination.

Lieut.-Commander KENWORTHY

Will a report on the operations be issued?

Sir P. SASSOON

Perhaps the hon. and gallant Gentleman will put a question down.

Mr. H. WILLIAMS

Is it our practice to tell all the world what we have found out for our own information?

Lieut.-Commander KENWORTHY

A great many statements have appeared in the Press, and would not an authoritative statement be very valuable?
