HC Deb 28 July 1927 vol 209 cc1428-9
15. Mr. JAMES HUDSON

asked the Minister of Health on what date he gave his approval to the Chester City Council's proposal to increase the rents of tenants of houses who take in lodgers; and when the proposed increase took effect?

The MINISTER of HEALTH (Mr. Chamberlain)

The Chester City Council were informed on 5th July last that I raised no objection to their proposal. It is understood that their proposals will have effect from an early date in August.

Mr. AUSTIN HOPKINSON

Will my right bon. Friend press this policy upon other local authorities?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

No, I do not think I am called upon to do that.
