§ 67. Mr. CRAWFURDasked the Minister of Transport if he is yet in a position to make a statement with regard to the widening of Ferry Lane, Tottenham?
§ Captain Viscount CURZON (for Colonel ASHLEY)I would refer the hon. Member to the answer which my right hon. Friend gave on the 9th May last to my hon. and gallant Friend the Member for Chelmsford (Lieut.-Colonel Howard-Bury). No fresh development has since occurred.
§ Mr. CRAWFURDIs the Noble Lord aware that in this case the Department had apparently given to the Tottenham Council an undertaking to support this scheme provided that it was started within two months of the permission being given; and is he aware that the Depart sent of the Minister of Health is standing in the way by withholding the permission?
§ Viscount CURZONI am afraid I cannot answer that question, but I will bring it to the notice of my right hon. Friend.
§ Mr. R. MORRISONIs not the Noble Lord aware of the increasing use of thin road as one of the main roads to Southend, and of the fact that there was a very serious accident a short time ago, and there are likely to be more if this widening is held up?
