HC Deb 27 July 1927 vol 209 c1209
6. Mr. LOOKER

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he is now in a position to make a statement regarding the Government's attitude towards the proposed increases of the Chinese Customs duties?

Sir A. CHAMBERLAIN

In addition to the consultations referred to in the reply given to my hon. Friend on the 13th instant, His Majesty's Minister has been in consultation with the British Chamber of Commerce at Shanghai. No decision can be arrived at until I have received the Chamber's views, which, His Majesty's Minister reports, have now been formulated.
