HC Deb 26 July 1927 vol 209 cc1002-3
54. Mr. SHEPHERD (for Mr. W. BAKER)

asked the Secretary to the Treasury whether he is aware that there is considerable overcrowding in the tax office at Bath; that the area of space per member of the staff is 43 square feet on the first floor and 22 square feet on the second floor; and whether, seeing that there were 187 days of sick leave during the 12 months ending February, 1927, he will cause inquiry to be made with a view to providing adequate accommodation?

Captain HACKING (for The FIRST COMMISSIONER of WORKS)

I have been asked to reply to the question on behalf of the First Commissioner of Works. The First Commissioner is aware that the tax offices at Bath are congested; a scheme is now under consideration whereby additional accommodation will be afforded.

Colonel DAY

Can the hon. and gallant Gentleman say when a decision will be arrived at?

Captain HACKING

At a very early date.
