asked the Home Secretary whether seeing that an advertisement was recently inserted inviting welfare supervisors particularly to apply for the post of deputy-governor of prisons (women), he will say how many outside applications were received; how many welfare supervisors and others with long experience and excellent qualifications applied; and what were the special qualifications of the person appointed?
