HC Deb 26 July 1927 vol 209 c1023
53. Mr. CLAYTON

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether it is the intention of the Government to permit the conveyance of duty-free spirit, whether methylated or otherwise denatured, in tank wagons or by pipeline?

Mr. McNEILL

As I explained to my hon. Friend in my answer to his previous question on 30th June, the Finance Bill will make it, possible to allow, under suitable Regulations, conveyance by tank wagon or pipe-line in the case of methylated spirits, but not in the case of spirits which, though denatured, are not methylated. But if my hon. Friend will let me know the full particulars of any specific case he may have in mind, I shall be happy to go into the matter more fully.
