HC Deb 26 July 1927 vol 209 cc1001-2
43. Mr. ERNEST BROWN

asked the Secretary of State for Air whether he is aware that certain technical employés in the Air Ministry who were placed under terminal notice were sub- sequently requested or advised to resign their appointments; and whether he will state the reason for this request?

The SECRETARY of STATE for AIR (Sir Samuel Hoare)

I am aware of only one instance of the nature described. In that case the officer, while under notice, applied for an appointment in another Government Department and asked that, in the event of his obtaining this, the notice should be withdrawn. Solely with a view to meeting his wishes he was informed that, in the event in question, his resignation could be accepted.
