HC Deb 25 July 1927 vol 209 cc835-6
39. Captain WATERHOUSE

asked the President of the Board of Trade if, in view of the serious state of the latch-needle industry and of the growing unemployment therein, he will consider the advisability of acting on the suggestion of the special Departmental Committee set up last year to examine the conditions under which the industry operates and to amend the existing duty, both as to amount and basis of calculation?

Sir B. CHADWICK

I shall continue to keep this industry under observation, but I have no present intention of recommending Parliament to alter the existing import duty.
