HC Deb 25 July 1927 vol 209 c850
73. Mr. THURTLE

asked the Secretary of State for War if the stables at Knightsbridge barracks are now being used; and, if so, for what purpose?

Commodore KING

The stables at Knightsbridge barracks are used to accommodate certain horses and transport, and the mobilisation vehicles and stores of the Brigade of Guards.

Mr. THURTLE

Are the stables fully occupied?

Commodore KING

I could not say if they are actually full, but they are being usefully employed at the present time.

Mr. THURTLE

May I take it from that reply, that there is no vacant accommodation in the stables?

Commodore KING

No, the hon. Member must not take my answer as having that meaning. What I say is that we consider that the stables are usefully occupied at the present time.

Mr. HARRIS

Is it not the fact that they are not actually needed for this purpose?

Commodore KING

My right hon. Friend answered a question the other day on that subject. There is no suitable alternative accommodation available.
