HC Deb 25 July 1927 vol 209 cc845-6
60. Mr. STEPHEN

asked the Minister of Labour whether he has decided to accept the new scales of unemployment benefit proposed in the Blanesburgh Report in the Unemployment Insurance Bill which he is proposing to introduce?

Mr. BETTERTON

I am afraid I must ask the hon. Member to await the circulation of the Bill.

Mr. STEPHEN

Can the hon. Gentleman say whether this Bill will be circulated before the end of this part of the Session?

Mr. BETTERTON

No, Sir; but the hon. Gentleman may remember that the Prime Minister the other day gave an undertaking, which of course will be carried out, that the Bill would be circulated in ample time for the Second Reading in the second part of the Session.

Mr. W. THORNE

Is there any truth in the report that the Bill is already in circulation?

Mr. BETTERTON

No, that is not so.
