HC Deb 20 July 1927 vol 209 cc382-3
14. Mr. W. M. WATSON

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty if there has been any change in the policy of his Department with regard to Rosyth Dockyard; and whether negotiations are still proceeding with private firms for the utilisation of any part of the dockyard property?

Lieut.-Colonel HEADLAM

The reply to the first part of the question is in the negative, and to the last part in the affirmative.

Mr. WATSON

Do I understand from that answer that there is no intention of opening this dockyard as a destroyer base?

Lieut.-Colonel HEADLAM

There is no intention whatever of doing anything more than we have already expressed our intention of doing. There is no change in the policy of keeping Rosyth on a care and maintenance basis.
