HC Deb 20 July 1927 vol 209 cc407-8
58. Colonel WEDGWOOD

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he has yet issued his views on the Report of the Feetham Commission; and how far those views coincide with the Commissioners' views on communal representation, native representation, and the taxation of land values for the municipalities of Kenya?

Mr. AMERY

No, Sir: the Report is still under consideration.

60. Colonel WEDGWOOD

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he will communicate the Report of the Feetham Commission, with such comments as he thinks desirable, to the Governors of other Crown Colonies and mandated territories?

Mr. AMERY

I doubt whether the Report is suitable for general circulation to other dependencies.

Colonel WEDGWOOD

After the right hon. Gentleman has concluded his consideration of this Report, will he then consider whether it will not be desirable to raise the same questions with other Colonies, and to use for those other Crown Colonies the benefit of this very exhaustive Report.

Mr. AMERY

Certainly. Where similar conditions are developing in other Colonies, I will naturally draw the attention of the Governors of those Colonies to the Report.

Colonel WEDGWOOD

For instance, the Sudan.

Mr. AMERY

The Sudan is not under my office.
