HC Deb 19 July 1927 vol 209 c221
41. Major BRAITHWAITE

asked the Minister of Agriculture if he has any information as to how many farms in this country are provided with electric power?

Mr. THOMSON

My right hon. Friend has no information as to the number of farms in this country that are equipped with electric power; but according to returns collected in connection with the Census of Production in 1925, there were in that year rather more than 700 electric engines in use on farms in England and Wales.

Colonel DAY

Can the hon. and learned Member say how many of these engines were supplied by the municipal authorities, or were they supplied direct from their own plant?

Mr. THOMSON

I shall require notice of that question.
