Mr. CECIL WILSONasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he is aware that the Government of Kenya Colony is contemplating granting a concession in a native reserve in the Tana Valley to a European group concerned with sugar production; that three administrative officers of increasing degrees of seniority have been sent in succession to that area; that these officers have used their influence to try to persuade the natives to give up land for the purpose stated; that the native chiefs have so far withstood any pressure brought upon them to give up land in this area; and whether he can assure the House that active persuasion of the natives shall cease and that disciplinary action shall not be taken against the native district council or the Ndia people?
