HC Deb 13 July 1927 vol 208 c2119
2. Colonel DAY

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether His Majesty's Ambassador at Rome has received any reply from the Italian Government with regard to the request he made that an inquiry should be held into the incident of the sufferings and experiences of Mrs. Dorothy Bodley, a British subject, during the time she was detained by the Italian authorities at Cagliari, Sardinia?

Sir A. CHAMBERLAIN

No, Sir. The communication of His Majesty's Ambassador at Rome was only addressed to the Italian Government on the 1st of July. Thus the Italian authorities have hardly had time to make the necessary inquiries in Sardinia.
