§ 12. Mr. MARDY JONESasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he is aware that Chinese soldiers of the Nationalist Army are permitted freely to enter the French concession at Shanghai; and whether a similar permission is now granted in the international settlement?
§ Sir A. CHAMBERLAINI have no information showing that any Chinese soldiers are permitted freely to enter the French Settlement at Shanghai. As regards the International Settlement the position remains as stated in my reply to the right hon. Gentleman the Member for Central Newcastle (Mr. Trevelyan) on 4th April last.
