SINCLAIRasked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he is aware that a number of smallholders in the Parish of Rogart, in the County of Sutherland, have been upwards of 20 years applying in a constitutional manner for the enlargement of their holdings off the farm of Sciberscross; and whether, in view of the fact that a further application was submitted to the Board of Agriculture last year, he is yet in a position to state what action will be taken to obtain those enlargements for the applicants?
§ Major ELLIOTMy right hon. Friend is aware that for a considerable period there have been recurrent applications for enlargements from the farm mentioned. The farm is let on a 14 years lease from Whit Sunday, 1926. Inquiry is being made into the question whether, having regard to considerations of cost and the other circumstances, a scheme of land settlement on this farm should be developed, but my right hon. Friend is not yet in a position to make a statement in the matter.
