HC Deb 21 February 1927 vol 202 c1391
36. Major Sir ARCHIBALD SINCLAIR

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what European members of the League of Nations have ratified the Eight Hours Convention; and what other nations have undertaken to ratify it if Great Britain will do so?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the MINISTRY of LABOUR (Mr. Betterton)

I have been asked to reply. The Washington Hours Convention has been ratified unconditionally by Belgium, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, Greece and Rumania. Austria, Italy and Latvia have deposited with the Secretary-General of the League of Nations ratifications which will only become operative on ratification by certain other States, of which Great Britain is one.
