The acreage of small holdings provided by the Cheshire County Council from 1st January, 1908, to 31st December, 1924, was 10,093 acres, the number of smallholders in occupation on the last-mentioned date being 338. The number of applications received by the council during the six years to 31st March, 1926, was 476, and the number of men settled during the same period was 121. The number of applicants on the waiting list at the end of the period was 179, of whom, however, there were only nine whose applications had been definitely approved.
