HC Deb 17 February 1927 vol 202 c1108
69. Mr. HORE-BELISHA

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury how many claims of Irish loyalists have been heard by the Committee set up under the Chairmanship of Sir Alexander Wood Renton, K.C.; and when it is anticipated the Report of this Committee will be published?

The SECRETARY of STATE for DOMINION AFFAIRS (Mr. Amery)

I have been asked to reply to this question. The Irish Grants Committee, under the Chairmanship of Sir Alexander Wood Renton, have so far dealt with 559 cases. I understand that the total number of applications received by the Committee is approximately 3,000. I am not in a position to say when the Committee will have completed their work or whether any Report will be made, apart from recommendations in individual cases.

Lieut.-Colonel HOWARD-BURY

Can the right hon. Gentleman say whether this Committee deals with the eases of ex-service men?

Mr. AMERY

It deals with all eases of hardship in this connection.
