HC Deb 14 February 1927 vol 202 cc556-7
56. Mr. BRIANT

asked the Under-Secretary of State for the Home Department, as representing the First Commissioner of Works, if improved premises have yet been found for the Maidstone tax office, to the unsatisfactory condition of which his attention has been previously called?

Captain HACKING (for The FIRST COMMISSIONER OF WORKS)

The First Commissioner regrets that, after exhaustive search, more suitable alternative premises for the Maidstone tax office have not yet been found.

Mr. BRIANT

Will the hon. Member take into consideration that this matter has been under consideration for a very long time, and that the present premises are insanitary and overcrowded? Cannot he find some alternative accommodation in the interim?

Captain HACKING

I should be glad if the hon. Member would advise us as to providing alternative accommodation.
