HC Deb 14 February 1927 vol 202 cc550-1
54. Mr. NOEL BUXTON

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether, in view of the fact that the Government, in its White Paper of February, 1926, on agricultural policy, placed the question of credit in the forefront of its programme, he is now in a position to state what measures he has decided upon to provide credit facilities for farmers?

43. Mr. EVERARD

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether any advance has been made in the scheme for long and short term credits for farmers?

Mr. GUINNESS

Discussions with various interests concerned are taking place, but. I am not yet able to make any further announcement.

Mr. BUXTON

Will the right hon. Gentleman ascertain whether the proposed agreement with the bankers is likely to be made, and, if not, when will he be able to announce his alternative proposal?

Mr. GUINNESS

We are pursuing this matter, and I will make an announcement as soon as I am in a position to do so.
