HC Deb 10 February 1927 vol 202 cc261-2
8. Mr. HANNON

asked the Home Secretary whether His Majesty's Government has decided not to proceed with the proposed Bill to amend and consolidate the Factory Acts in the present Session?

Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKS

For the reasons explained by the Prime Minister in his statement to this House last Tuesday, it has been. decided not to proceed with this Bill during the present Session, but to introduce it at the beginning of the following Session, which will commence in November next, with a view to its being read a second time before Christmas and passed into law in 1928.

Mr. HANNON

Will my right hon. Friend carefully consider representations which are being presented to him at the instance of the various bodies of manufacturers in this country before he drafts his new Bill?

Mr. T. WILLIAMS

Will the right hon. Gentleman also undertake to see that the representations made by the workers in the various factories and their organisations will be fully considered?

Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKS

I am looking forward to spending a very cheerful time during the next few months in receiving deputations from both sides. Some of them have asked already to be received.
